Yenawine is proud to have started her first business, HAY DJ, in the place
where she was born, Louisville, Kentucky. With a strong background as
both an instrumentalist and actor, Yenawine decided to take her passion
for music and parlay it into an innovative and eclectic specialty dj service.
Heather is
a graduate of Syracuse University with degrees in Policy Studies and African
American Studies. While in college, she traveled around the world, with
extended stays in Southern Africa and Southeast Asia, where she was exposed
to vibrantly different cultures and musical traditions.
Since returning
to Louisville, Yenawine has worked as an assistant teacher in the St.
Francis School system, as well as a freelance writer for the LEO. In radio,
Yenawine has worked as a writer for WFPL’s “State of Affairs,”
and simultaneously interned with WFPK, where her intense interest in music
was fostered.
In 2005 she
partnered with Randy Bolton and together they established HAY DJ.
Randy Bolton
was born and raised in Louisville and has worked in the record store industry
for the last 17 years. Currently, Bolton is one of the managers of ear
X-tacy Records on Bardstown Rd. Known as a regional expert in jazz, Bolton
buys over 30% of the stores music, and as such, his musical knowledge
is vast. Throughout his career, he has accumulated a superior music collection
which serves as a primary resource for HAY DJ.
Largely self-taught,
Bolton has also worked a special music writer to the Courier Journal for
the past 7 years. Though never a musician himself, Randy is an ardent
fan with an insatiable hunger for musical knowledge.
HAY DJ mentors
under Marshall Yancey of Yancey Entertainment Service, Louisville, Kentucky.
